Program Requirements
2+2 Elementary Education
During each of the three semesters leading up to internship, university students are enrolled in methods courses of increasing level of sophistication.
Along with introductory level courses, students are provided courses of greater depth, for example EDU 466 - Diagnostic Teaching of Reading, which follows EDU 322 - Introduction to the Teaching of Reading.
University students are taught methods courses reflecting the entire elementary curriculum, including art, music, physical education, and classroom management.
Two of the five courses required for META/ESOL endorsement required in order to teach Limited English Proficiency pupils in regular classrooms, are part of the regular course of study in the three certifications (Elementary, Pre-Kindergarten/Primary, Exceptional Student Education) Programs. Note that the Exceptional Student Education Program requires three ESOL courses.
