Otis White begins his first season as a student assistant with the Barry men’s basketball team after playing two years for the Bucs.

Known for his defensive tactics on the court, White served as one of three team captains his senior season. In two years with the Bucs, he helped lead Barry to their second NCAA Tournament berth in 2006-07 and the SSC Tournament final in 2005-06. He started 50 games for the Bucs in two seasons averaging 6.3 points and 2.9 rebounds per game. As a senior, he helped lead Barry to a school-record 76.2 winning percentage.

White came to Barry after one season at Pasco-Hernando CC where he played for Bobby Bowman. In one season with the Conquistadors, he was named team captain and averaged 17.8 points, five rebounds, and five assists. His efforts garnered him First-Team All-Suncoast Conference honors and was named to the Florida State JUCO All-Star team.

At Chamberlain High in Tampa, Fla., White averaged 22.3 points, five rebounds and four assists in his final season with the Chiefs. A standout for coach Doug Aplin, he was named Tampa Tribune high school Player-of-the-Year.

White will graduate from Barry in May, 2008 with a degree in physical education.
