Andres Lopez comes
back to the Buccaneers as a member of the coaching staff following
a six-year absence, after earning his bachelor’s
in sport management in 2001. Lopez was a four-year letterman from 1997-2000,
helping the Bucs make the NCAA National Finals in 1999 and 2000 as
the host.
After playing his
freshman year under Herb Dunning, he started the first four games of
his sophomore year under rookie coach Steve McCrath, helping to lead
the Bucs to their first NCAA Tournament berth since 1985.
As a junior, he
made a career-high eight starts and ranked third on the team with five
goals. As a senior, he led the team with nine assists, coming off the
bench all but four games, as Barry advanced to the national title game
against CSUDH.
Lopez is pursuing
his master’s in human resource administration
at Barry.
