Elizabeth Bennett started her collegiate career this week posting a 6-1 record on the week. Against St. Thomas, she picked up two wins hurling a complete game in the series opener with nine strikeouts in her collegiate debut allowing just two runs. In the second game, she pitched 1.1 innings and allowed no runs in relief to pick up a come-from-behind win. She picked up her third win of the season knocking off second-ranked St. Mary’s (Texas) 4-2 defeating the Rattlers All-American pitcher Kym Kling. She allowed one earned run and struck out seven. Bennett capped off the week with her sixth win in seven appearances against Minnesota St.-Mankato allowing four runs and striking out nine. For the week, the freshman from Pembroke Pines, Fla., finished with a 6-1 record in 38.0 innings allowing nine earned runs and striking out 47 with a 1.66 ERA, pitching four complete games and one combined shutout.

Alex Gonzalez led the Buccaneer hurlers finishing the week with a 2-0 record. Against Lynn in the season opener, he hurled 7.0 shutout innings allowing just three hits and striking out nine in the Bucs 7-3 win over the Knights. Against the highly touted Valdosta State Blazers, he hurled his second career complete game win allowing eight hits and two runs, while striking out eight in 9.0 innings. He finished the week striking out 17 in 16.0 innings of work allowing just two runs with a 1.12 ERA and a 2-0 record allowing opponents a mere .196 batting average.
