Heather Gelbard
Heather Gelbard
Assistant Coach

Heather Gelbard enters her first year as an assistant coach at Barry after a brilliant four-year career at North Carolina State University under former Barry head coach Lisa Navas. She contributed more than 60 hits each of her four years and helped lead the Wolfpack to the 2006 regular-season ACC and ACC Tournament championships and back-to-back NCAA Division I Regional Tournament berths in 2006 and 2007.

Gelbard currently holds NC State career records in batting average, hits and doubles. As a member of the inaugural team in 2004, she collected the first hit, double and run scored in Wolfpack history. As a sophomore, she hit the program’s first grand slam against Mississippi Valley State. In her final season, Gelbard finished in the top ten in the ACC for hits, homers, walks per game and batting average. She completed her senior year with a team-best and career-high 13 home runs and a .345 batting average.

Gelbard was a three-time NFCA/Louisville Slugger All-Southeast Region selection earning First-Team honors in 2007 and Second-Team in 2005 and 2006. She was also named to five All-Tournament teams during her tenure. A four-time NC State Scholar-Athlete and ACC Honor Roll selection, she was named a Third-Team ESPN the Magazine Academic All-American by CoSIDA in 2005.

As a coach, Gelbard worked with the Miami Stingray travel teams for the past four years. In addition, she has also coached at several softball clinics and the NC State summer camps. She is currently pursuing a master’s in sport psychology at Barry.
