Kacey Ellis enters her first year as a an assistant coach at Barry. A
former first baseman and pitcher at NCAA Division I UNLV, Ellis adds a
great deal of experience to the coaching staff. During her tenure with
the Rebels, Ellis played in 183 games with 173 starts. She made 54 starts
in the circle and ranks in UNLV’s top-ten in appearances, winning
percentage, and saves.
A versatile player, Ellis posted a .984 fielding percentage as a senior.
She belted 46 hits in 60 games. As a freshman Ellis was the Rebels’ top
performer on the mound. She was named UNLV’s Rookie of the Year after
leading the team in appearances (34), innings pitched (145), wins (12),
saves (2), games started (24) and complete games (10). She also became
the first freshman in MWC history to claim Player of the Week honors on
after posting a 1.22 ERA and a shutout of Wisconsin at the 2001 UNLV Classic.
Also a dedicated student, Ellis was named to the MWC All-Academic team
for three straight-years.
A native of Brentwood, Tenn., Ellis was a standout pitcher at Brentood High,
leading her team to three district titles. She graduated from UNLV with a bachelor’s
degree in psychology in 2004. She is currently working towards a master’s
degree in sport psychology at Barry.
