Melissa Wiggins
Melissa Wiggins
Assistant Coach

Melissa Wiggins enters her second season as an assistant coach at Barry. She will work with both offense and defense.
Prior to Barry, she coached at the Stetson University Fastpitch Complex which provided hitting and advanced skill development lessons. She also coached at the Stetson Elite Skills Camp in 2004 and 2005.

As a collegian, Wiggins played four seasons at third base for the NCAA Division I Stetson University Hatters. Throughout her career, she established herself as an offensive power, setting several Hatter career and single-season records. She currently holds Stetson’s career records with 42 home runs and 68 doubles, both of which she held since her junior season. She is currently third in career batting average (.386) and holds single-season records for doubles (21), total bases (136), slugging percentage (.770) and single-game home runs (three).

As a senior, Wiggins was named Atlantic-Sun Player-of-the-Year and First-Team All-Atlantic Sun. She was also dubbed to the NFCA/Louisville Slugger All-Southeast Region Second-Team. As a junior, she earned First-Team Atlantic Sun and First-Team NFCA/Louisville Slugger All-Southeast Region. In her first two seasons with the hatters, she was a Second-Team Atlantic Sun selection, a member of the A-Sun All-Freshman Team and earned Atlantic Sun Freshman Player-of-the-Year honors. Throughout her four-year stint with Stetson, Wiggins was a four-time A-Sun Player of the Week selection.

In addition to serving as an assistant coach, she is currently working toward a master’s in sport management at Barry.
