Nikki Fiedler returns to Barry for her fourth
season as an assistant coach after a brief one-year hiatus. In 2004, she
served as an assistant coach at Nova Southeastern in Davie, Fla., after three
years with Barry’s program. A native of Pittsburgh, Pa., Fiedler went
to Baldwin High where she was a two-sport star in volleyball and softball.
Playing all four years in both sports, Fiedler was a setter in volleyball
and second baseman in softball.
Fiedler earned a bachelor of science degree in psychology from California
University of Pennsylvania. She played left field at CUP with a .350 career
batting average, hitting 20 home runs, scoring 92 runs while driving in 121.
Playing in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference, the Vulcans won a
conference and regional title every year Fiedler was there, including back-to-back
National Championships during the 1997 and 1998 seasons. Consequently, Fiedler
was a member of the Vulcan squad when it beat Barry in the 1998 Nationals.
Fiedler earned All-Conference and All-Region honors during her junior and
senior seasons, and was an Academic All-American during her junior season,
when she earned a 3.8 GPA.
