Alicia Hartlaub enters her second season with the Bucs. On
the court, she will work primarily with the Buccaneer post players after
a playing career at the University of Miami. She will also head up the Buccaneers’ tape
exchange.
A four-year letter winner for coach Ferne Labati with the Hurricanes, she
played in 116 games, starting 77. The Canes posted a 64-55 mark during her
career. She was the Canes’ team captain as a senior.
As a freshman, she averaged 11.4 points and 6.4 rebounds,
her best season averages, as she started every game in a 14-15 season. She
was named Big East Rookie of the Week for her performance the week of January
9, 2000, averaging 21 points and 7.5 rebounds in games against Western Kentucky
and Seton Hall.
She played in all but three games the rest of her career, despite battling
back problems.
A double major in special education and criminology at UM, she was a four-time
Big East Academic All-Star. She earned her degrees from UM in 2003.
She currently teaches emotionally handicapped students
at Coral Park High. She coached the Rams’ girl’s varsity basketball
program for two years.
Her AAU team, South Florida Premier U-16, qualified for the national tournament
in 2006 in Orlando.
She is pursuing her master’s degree at Barry in education in computing
and technology.
