Dr. George Alexakis has had three distinct careers as a small business owner, business consultant/marketing manager, and university administrator and instructor. He is currently an assistant professor and assistant academic coordinator for Barry University, where he teaches a variety of business and management classes. Before that, he worked at Nova Southeastern University’s business school faculty for ten years in similar capacities.
As a professor, he teaches a variety of business and management courses in the areas of Human Resources, Operations, Management, Marketing, Strategy & Policy, Research Methods, Leadership, and Organizational Communications, to name a few. He researches all of these areas, having seven refereed journal articles published in the last five years.
Outside academia, his activities include roles as a business consultant, seminar trainer, and in-session focus group moderator. He has taught, trained, or consulted in Jamaica, The Bahamas, Turks & Caicos, Panama, Israel, Greece, and throughout the State of Florida.
Professor Alexakis is holds a doctorate in education with a specialization in higher education, a Master’s of Science, and a Bachelor of Commerce. He was a member of the Toastmasters International organization, which awarded him with two designations in public speaking and communications: CTM (Competent Toastmaster) and CL (Competent Leader).
Dr. Alexakis is a former Advisory Board member of the Daily Bread Food Bank of South Florida. He is also fluently bilingual in the Greek language.
