Profile

Maritza C. Cabrera received a BA in Psychology at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and a MA in Clinical Psychology at New York University, New York. She is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor specialized in the care and rehabilitation of persons with chronic mental illness. Ms. Cabrera joined the Academy for Better Communities of the School of Social Work in 2001 and is currently the Director of the Neighborhood Technical Assistance Program at the Academy. Prior to joining the University, she had been a Consultant in mental health and research settings, an Assistant Professor at Baylor College of Medicine and The Institute of Rehabilitation and Research (TIRR) in Houston, Texas where she directed the Brain Injury Prevention Program, and a member of the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Florida in Jacksonville, Florida where she managed a community mental health service program and conducted forensic evaluations.
