Mr. Dentato joined the faculty of the School of Social Work in 2004 and teaches practice courses in both the MSW and BSW programs. He received his B.A. degree and an M.S.W. from Fordham University. Prior to holding the position of BSW Program Director, Mr. Dentato spent the past ten years working in the clinical and administrative fields of mental health, addictions, criminal justice and with at-risk youth and their families in New York City and Miami. He also worked as a field educator and remains highly committed to the integration of field work with the classroom experience.

His professional interests are in the field of HIV/AIDS prevention and education; alcohol and substance abuse addictions, prevention and treatment; identity development and sexuality; and work with GLBT youth. Mr. Dentato remains very active in the community, serving on the boards of several community-based organizations. He has also received several awards for his dedication, service and volunteerism.
