The St. Thomas & St. Catherine Lecture Series will present the 2003-2004 Yves Congar Award for Theological Excellence to Ana Maria Pineda, Ph.D., on March 22, 2004. The series begins October 9 with Dr. Harold Raley on "Two Theories of Human Life in Ortega and Marias".
Dr. David Pellauer will speak on November 13 on , "Negotiating the Conflict of Interpretation", based on the work of Paul Ricouer, in Andreas 112, 7:30pm. Dr. Emily Townes will speak on February 23, 2004. All lectures are open to the public.
Last year's lecture series concluded with Dr. Susan Ross, Professor of Theology and Faculty Scholar at Loyola University Chicago, noted author of Extravagant Affections: A Feminist Sacramental Theology (Continuum, 1998) and co-editor of Broken and Whole: Essays on Religion and the Body (University Press of America, 1995). She received the College Theology Society 1999 Book of the Year Award. A special talk was given by Pierre-Marie Gy, OP, author of over 140 scholarly articles in liturgical studies.
Père Gy was a theological advisor at the Second Vatican Council, served as consultor to the Concilium and the Sacred Congregation for Divine Worship, and was relator in reforming the Rites of Anointing of the Sick, Confirmation, and the Book of Blessings. He was director of the Institut Supérieur de Liturgie of the Institut Catholique de Paris, 1964-1986.
