Profile
Dr. Joel Wilcox joined the Barry faculty in 2004. He earned a BA degree in art history from the University of California, Irvine, an MA in philosophy from Johns Hopkins University, and a PhD in philosophy from the University of Minnesota.
Dr. Wilcox has many years of teaching experience. He is a past president of the Rhode Island Philosophical Association, and served as the Director of Humanities at a previous institution.
Dr. Wilcox's main professional interests are a esthetics, Asian philosophy, e nvironmental philosophy, and Greek philosophy. He is also very interested in art and art history. His most recent publication is Religion and the Politics of War (Cambridge Scholars Press, 2006) which he co-edited, and to which he contributed both the Introduction and a chapter entitled "The Metaphysics of Tolerance."
