Greetings From Theology & Philosophy
I want to begin by congratulating our December
graduates: Patricia Sandall, Jeffrey Krauss, Eva Lukacsi, and Margarita
Gomez (D.Min.); Ignacio Prado (MA in Theology); and Florencia Toledo
(MA in Pastoral Ministry for Hispanics). All of our degree programs
continue to grow each year; we will have more graduates to celebrate
in May. The dedication and tremendous success of our faculty’s
scholarly endeavors are represented in major philosophical and theological
journals, presses, and in leadership at international meetings this
year - we are very proud of their work.
Our Department is working hard in faculty committees
and in student and administrative focus groups on two accreditations:
reaccreditation by SACS (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools)
and accreditation by ATS (Association of Theological Schools). Both
are very important to the Department and the University. ATS accreditation
will continue to make us a significant Roman Catholic theological
center for South Florida and the Southeastern US.
The Yves Congar Award for Theological Excellence
was presented to noted Theologian Rev. Bryan Hehir in February,
and the St. Thomas-St. Catherine Lecture Series continues to bring
outstanding theologians and philosophers to the Barry community.
