On Monday, February 11, 2008, Dr. Maria Cimperman, OSU, spoke to more than 100 faculty, students, and local community members. Her presentation, "Audacious Hope: A Christian Contribution in an Age of Aids," included an overview of statistics showing an increase in newly infected persons, accounts of conversations gathered from her international work on the HIV/AIDS pandemic, and a vision formed through her research in virtue ethics and spirituality that may help us find a better way to cope with HIV/AIDS and the issues it raises.
Dr. Maria Cimperman is Assistant Professor of Moral Theology and Social Ethics at Oblate School of Theology, San Antonio, TX. Her book, When God's People Have HIV/AIDS: An Approach to Ethics, received an award from the Catholic Press Association.
