O my friend,
why do you who are a citizen of the great and mighty and wise
city of Athens, care so much about laying up the greatest
amounts of money and honor and reputation, and so little about
wisdom and truth and the greatest improvement of the soul
which you never regard or heed at all? Are you not ashamed
of this?

Phi Sigma Tau Inductees -- 2006-2007
Alycia Bischoff, William N. Guyeskey, Mary K. Leonard, Yaniece Alexcia McPherson, Daisy Bea Martínez, Barbara María Pelaez, Erika Judith Perez, Candia Regis, Brett Thatcher, Nelson Guillermo Tovar
Barry students argue for inclusivity in induction ceremony: Members of Phi Sigma Tau are drafting a letter to the national office arguing for a change in the induction ceremony wording; the ceremony currently alludes to "streams of world thought" without mentioning aboriginal traditions, much of which is philosophically significant.
Philosophy Students Excel in Ethics Bowl
A team of four Barry University philosophy students participated in the Southeast Regional Ethics Bowl at the University of South Florida on Saturday, November 28, 2006. The Barry team finished fifth overall out of twenty schools, ahead of every Florida school except Eckerd College, which took the regional competition. Barry was also privileged to compete in the National Ethics Bowl in Cincinnati on February 22, 2007. |
