Neighborhood Technical Assistance Grant Program
Many exciting moments and activities were realized as nine Barry University School of Social Work students participated in the Neighborhood Technical Assistance Grant Program. They completed a Community Needs Assessment Project in the Overtown Community of Miami-Dade County that provided valuable feedback to the stakeholders and the Overtown Youth Coalition. Canvassing Overtown proved to be both a cultural and learning experience as students explored historical Overtown. They worked with children at Urgent, Inc. and Touching Miami with Love, interviewed stakeholders, visited the Black Police Museum, the Historical Dorsey Park, as well as having clinical supervision sessions at several of the oldest restaurants in the community proved to be rewarding.
