Why Accounting at Barry University?

The Master of Science in Accounting (MSA) program is designed to prepare you to become a successful accounting professional with a global orientation and a strong sense of ethics and social responsibility.

The faculty demonstrate a strong commitment to deliver a high-quality educational experience by embedding contemporary recommendations from well-respected academic and practitioner organizations into the curriculum. The course work is structured to achieve the assurance of learning goals prescribed by AACSB International - The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, to develop the necessary core competencies for entry into the accounting profession endorsed by the AICPA - American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and to acquire the relevant knowledge, skills, and abilities specified by the IMA - Institute of Management Accountants.

The program provides the necessary preparation to be eligible to sit for the following professional license or certification examinations:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Certification in Financial Management (CFM)
  • Certification in Management Accounting (CMA)

Both the Bachelor of Science in Accounting program and the Master of Science in Accounting program at Barry University meet requirements of the State of Florida to sit for the CPA exam and the Institute of Management to take the CFM and CMA exams. The CPA track will enable you to pursue a rewarding career in assurance services (auditing) and taxation, while the CFM and CMA tracks will prepare you for an important financial and management accounting position within business, governmental, and not-for-profit entities.
