Teaching Philosophy

"I believe students are curious about the world and I seek to tap into this curiosity in order to further develop their critical thinking skills. My teaching methodology encourages curiosity through stimulating lectures and discussion, experiential learning, and case studies."

Dr. Rarick teaches in the areas of International Business, Cross-Cultural Management, Organizational Behavior, and Strategic Management. He earned his Ph.D. at Saint Louis University and his MBA at Drury University. Dr. Rarick is also certified as a SPHR (Senior Professional in Human Resources). Prior to an academic career, he was a corporate accountant. Professor Rarick has published in a number of academic journals including the Journal of Business Strategy, the Journal of Management Research, International Journal of Business and Economics, Journal of Business Perspective, Journal of Business Education, Advanced Management Journal, and the Journal of Value-Based Management. He is the author of The Confucian Advantage and International Business: Cases and Exercises. He serves on the Editorial Review Board of Advanced Management Journal and the International Journal of Case Studies. Dr. Rarick has made professional presentations in Taiwan, Australia, Egypt, Ireland, Costa Rica, India, Austria, Greece, Colombia, Slovak Republic, Portugal, Romania, Venezuela, and throughout the United States and Canada. He has lectured at the Romanian-American University in Bucharest, Instituto Technologico y de Estudios Superiores (ITESM) in Mexico, and EAFIT in Colombia. Dr. Rarick has also conducted corporate training for companies such as Toyota Motor Manufacturing, KU Energy, Trane, Square D, and IBM.

Barry University professor awarded Fulbright Senior Specialists grant in business administration

Dr. Charles Rarick, professor of management at Barry University’s Andreas School of Business, has been awarded the Fulbright Senior Specialists grant in business administration. The grant is awarded by the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board, the Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs of the Department of State, and the Council for International Exchange of Scholars.

As a recipient of the Fulbright grant, Dr. Rarick will spend a two-term session in Myanmar, Burma giving a series of lectures on free-trade, privatization, management, and strategic planning to Myanmar’s business community. Dr. Rarick’s first-term will be Oct. 1-26 and his second-term will be Dec. 1-14. He will be joining the ranks of other distinguished scholars and professionals from around the world who are leaders in the educational, political, economic, social and cultural lives of their respective countries.

The Fulbright grant is financed by the U.S. and the numerous other governments that participate in the Fulbright program. The basic purpose of these grants is to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and those of other countries.
