Dr. Stephen Sussmanssussman@barry.edu 561-622-9300Dr. Stephen Sussman is an Associate Professor of Public Administration in the School of Adult and Continuing Education, where he teaches in the MPA and BPA programs. He earned his MPA and PhD in Political Science from Georgia State University. Dr. Sussman has authored and coauthored numerous articles, conference papers, and book chapters. Dr. Sussman serves as a peer-reviewer for the Journal of Online Learning and Teaching. His teaching and research interests include public policy analysis and evaluation, public law and administration, research methodology, non-profit administration, public budgeting/finance, and distant-education pedagogy/andragogy.Dr. Sussman served as an elected member of Barry University’s Faculty-Senate, Graduate Council, and numerous other university committees. In addition to his university service, he serves on the board of directors in Palm Beach County for Jewish Family and Children’s Services, Jewish Residential and Family Service, Housing Partnership, and The Parent-Child Centers. He is also past vice-president and member of the board of directors for the Palm Beach Synagogue.In 2007, Dr. Sussman was named an American Jewish Committee (AJC) Lowenstein Fellow and served on the AJC Washington, DC-based Congressional National Advocacy Task-Force. In 2007, he was appointed to a U.S. Department of Education Federal Rule-Making Committee as a primary negotiator for regulations relating to the General Provisions for the Title IV programs of the Higher Education Act of 1965. Most recently, in 2010, he co-authored a poster session on emergency and disaster preparedness education for the International Preparedness and Response to Emergencies and Disasters Conference in Tel Aviv. Currently, Dr. Sussman is engaged in Genealogical research and lectured at the Israel Genealogical Society Conference at Tel Aviv University in November, 2010.
