Eric D. Olson, Assistant Professor of Legal Studies, was graduated from the University of Florida College of Law in 1980 earning a Juris Doctor degree with Honors.  He has been a member of The Florida Bar since 1980 and practiced law for 11 years before coming to Barry University in 1991, initially, as the Director of the Legal Assistant Institute and, subsequently, as the Academic Coordinator for Legal Studies.   He received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with Honors in 1972 from Florida Atlantic University, majoring in Management.

As the Academic Coordinator for Legal Studies, Mr. Olson was responsible for developing the current Legal Studies bachelor degree and credit certificate programs at the University.  Other responsibilities have included extensive service on the University’s Institutional Review Board and various School of Adult and Continuing Education and Faculty Senate committees.  He also serves as a member of the Certification Board of the National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA) which is responsible for drafting and grading the national Certified Legal Assistant (CLA) examination.

Prior to attending the University of Florida College of Law, Mr. Olson was employed as a federal Savings and Loan Examiner by the Federal Home Loan Bank Board.  He also served as an Air Traffic Control Specialist with the Federal Aviation Administration and as a corporate pilot before earning his undergraduate degree.
