About Barry University
Founded in 1940, the University is sponsored by the Dominican Sisters of Adrian, Michigan, and is governed by an independent, self-perpetuating Board of Trustees.
Barry offers more than 60 traditional undergraduate programs, accelerated bachelor's programs designed specifically for working adults, and more than 50 graduate programs (many of these with evening/weekend classes).
Since Barry first opened its doors in 1940, the faculty and administration have combined efforts to develop high quality academic programs so that needs of both the students and the local community would be served.
Continued development and expansion of the Barry community are promoted to keep pace with the growth and excellence of the educational programs and to meet the needs of the ever-increasing, diverse student population.
In its 2007 Edition of America's Best Colleges, U.S. News & World Report ranked Barry University in the top tier of Master's Universities - South. Barry University also has been named “Best Private University or College,” according to South Florida CEO magazine’s January 2007 issue.
