Cross Training for Providers of Elder Services & Special Needs Populations
This free training is available to human services providers of Elder Services and Special Needs Populations. The free training is provided by Barry University with funding from Miami-Dade County.
Attend individual sessions or multiple sessions to earn a certificate (equivalent of 30 hours of training) in Cross Training for Providers of Elder Services and Special Needs Populations. Sessions being offered this period include:
- Professional Ethics: Boundaries and Confidentiality in the helping profession
- Effective Communication
- Introduction to Motivational Interviewing
- Parenting in the Context of Domestic Violence
- Treating Adolescents with Co-Occurring Disorders
- Helping Children and Adolescents Cope with Violence and Disasters
- The Coming Out Process for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) Individuals
- Clinical Issues of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) Individuals
- Guidelines for Psychotherapy with Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) Individuals
- Co-Occurring Substance Abuse and Mental Health Disorders in Adults
- Mental Health: Adults and Mood Disorders
- A Deeper Understanding of Alzheimer’s Disease
- Working with Your Older Clients
- Why Our Bodies Age
- Advance Care Planning
- Palliative Care
By special request these trainings can be brought to your place of employment for large groups of employees who are not able to attend the sessions. We have offered special sessions at: the Homeless Assistance Centers (North and South locations), Center for Family and Child Enrichment, and Passageways.
