Continuing Education

Barry University's non-credit program offerings are designed to respond to the diverse lifelong educational interests and needs of persons of all ages.

GENERAL INFORMATION

  • We offer public seminars, workshops, certificate programs, and personal enrichment classes.
  • We conduct customized in-house training/consultation for business, government and non-profit organizations.
  • Most programs are open to interested students, faculty, alumni, and the general public without regard to prior educational background.
  • There are programs for persons who wish to obtain knowledge and learn new skills or meet licensure requirements in order to maintain current status in a particular occupation.
  • There are programs that will enable participants to retrain for a new position
  • There are travel and learn adventures for adults aged 55+ in cooperation with Elderhostel, Inc.
  • There are many exciting programs for older adults through our Older Adult Opportunity Center.
  • There are training programs for Elder Services and Special Needs providers through a grant from the Alliance for Human Services on behalf of the Department of Human Services of Miami-Dade County.
  • Barry University awards Continuing Education Units (CEUs) to participants upon successful completion of many of these programs. The CEU is a nationally recognized method for measuring and recording participation in non-credit educational endeavors.

The School of Adult and Continuing Education has been approved as a provider of continuing education programs by the American Psychological Association, the Certified Board of Addictions Professionals of Florida, the Society for Human Resource Management, the American Payroll Association, Elderhostel, the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans, the CFP Board of Standards, and the American Society for Quality.
