It’s always been a dream to transition from coaching into administration and I am eternally grateful that the chance came here at Barry.”Odio guided the Bucs to a 281-234 record over 18 seasons, including the 2006-07 Sunshine State Conference title, and three trips to the NCAA Division II Tournament. He was twice named SSC Coach of the Year, in 1994-95 and in 2006-07. He mentored 22 all-conference players, including the 2004-05 Player of the Year, Nick Ellingsworth-Perez, who went on to earn All-America honors. Jason Junker, in 2000-01, was an Academic All-American.Odio’s protégés have been some of the most accomplished in Buccaneer history, claiming five Barry Male Athlete of the Year awards, as well as five Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards.“I’ll miss the relationship with my players,” Odio said, “but hopefully now I’ll have the chance to be involved with even more athletes. Barry University has treated me very well over the years and I’m thankful to be able to remain a part of the Buccaneer family.”The university will immediately begin a national search for his replacement.
