MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Barry University women's tennis team completed a sweep of NAIA No. 17 St. Thomas in doubles Saturday in the final regular season match before rain washed out the completion of singles.

The match will not be made up.

Ranked No. 2 in NCAA Division II, Barry (21-0) went unbeaten for the second straight year during the regular season, and now turns its focus to the Sunshine State Conference Championships, beginning with Thursday's 9 a.m. quarterfinal match when the top-seeded Buccaneers meet eighth-seeded Nova Southeastern at South County Regional Park in Boca Raton.

The Bucs' No. 2 doubles team of Linda Fritschken and Kimmy Twelker breezed to an 8-0 win. Karina Goia and Akemi Maehama were 8-2 winners at No. 3, while Elisabeth Abanda and Emma Onila won 8-4 at No. 1.

This Buccaneer team and the one of yesteryear are the only two in school history to go unbeaten during the regular season.
