State Financial Aid

The following state of Florida programs are available to qualified graduate students:

  • Jose Marti Scholarship Challenge Grant Fund
  • Seminole/Miccosukee Indian Scholarships
  • Florida Teacher Scholarship and Forgivable Loan Program
  • Critical Teacher Shortage Student Loan Forgiveness Program
  • Exceptional Student Education Training Grant for Out-of-Field Teachers
  • Scholarships for Children of Deceased or Disabled Veterans

The financial assistance programs available through the state of Florida are subject to change. Additional programs for graduate students may also be available. Scholarships and Grants Offered Through Barry University

Barry University offers a variety of grants, scholarships, and tuition discounts to qualified students. All full-time Florida teachers receive at least a 30% tuition discount under the Professional Recognition Scholarship Program. Proof of eligibility must be submitted. Clergy members of religious communities (sisters, brothers, etc.) receive a 30% discount for all graduate programs under the Professional Recognition Scholarship Program. Various academic schools at Barry University also provide grants and scholarships to eligible students.

School of Arts and Sciences

Under the Professional Recognition Scholarship Program a 30% discount is available for students in the Doctor of Ministry program .

School of Business

Marie Baier Scholar Program. This program, funded by The Marie Baier Foundation, recognizes those students who display high levels of potential as indicated by their scores on the Graduate Management Admissions Test as well as their performance in course work within the School of Business . Students qualifying for this program receive a waiver for three credit hours each semester. School of Education

All educators, pursuing an advanced degree in the School of Education , receive at least a 30% discount under the Professional Recognition Scholarship Program.

School of Human Performance and Leisure Sciences

Under the Professional Recognition Scholarship Program, a 30% tuition discount is available to all educators employed by a public or private school system. This discount is inclusive of all other Barry grants for which one might qualify and is not applicable if tuition is otherwise covered by an employer or some other organization. The Blockbuster Sport and Exercise Sciences Scholarship is available to qualified students who are seeking a degree in the School of Human Performance and Leisure Science. The award is based on the applicant's academic achievement, community involvement, professional service, and financial need.

School of Nursing

Under the Professional Recognition Scholarship Program, a 30% tuition discount is available for RNs enrolled in the MSN program who are employed full-time. This discount is applicable unless tuition is paid through a grant or subsidy. Similarly, a 20-percent tuition discount is available for doctoral students unless tuition is paid through a grant or subsidy. Present funding also includes Professional Nurse Traineeships for full-time study and Nursing Scholarships in specialized areas.

School of Graduate Medical Sciences

The Marvin Steinberg Podiatric Alumni Scholarship Fund and the Herbert Feinberg Memorial Scholarship Fund provides annual scholarships to academically qualified students.

The Podiatric Academic Merit Scholarship range from $2,000 to half-tuition for highly qualified in-coming students. Selection of scholarship recipients is at the discretion of the scholarship committee. No formal application is necessary.
