Event Assistant/Clerical The student will assist the Coordinator of Multicultural Affairs in developing and implementing the programs and resources of Multicultural Affairs.  Specific duties include but are not limited to: Designing and distributing promotional materials, attending and staffing events/programs, developing a Multicultural Affairs Resource Library and sitting on the Multicultural Affairs Advisory Board. Also, creative projects, design & post event advertisements, general office duties. Plan, set up, & staff events. Light & heavy lifting. Receptionist for the Dean of Student

Transmit instructions or information to and from staff members. Retrieve, sort and distribute mail in accordance with instruction of the supervisor. Hand deliver letters to offices/individuals as needed.  Assist office personnel in planning, organizing and scheduling special activities. Greet the public and deal with all people in a courteous and helpful manner. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.  Be polite and attentive to all customers.  Be on time for all shifts.  Sign in with staff member when checking in and departing from shifts.  Notify the office of anticipated absences prior to your shift.  Maintain professional behavior while on shift. Proper dress required. Punctuality and regular scheduled attendance. Abide by theConfidentiality Agreement.
Perform basic office procedures and related work to assist the secretary and relieve administrative personnel of clerical duties. Answer telephone, take messages, and respond to questions in accordance with general instructions. The individual will be expected to use a computer or word processing system (typing skills 35 wpm preferred); knowledge of Publisher is helpful.

Clerical Assistant

Must be punctual, maintain confidentiality, and must be able to multi-task on both routine and special projects in high-traffic office, while appropriately interacting with multiple executives and persons needing assistance.

America Reads-Reading Tutor Tutor 1st graders in reading at a conveniently located elementary school. Teach a child to read as part of a national effort. Any major is welcome. It is a plus, but not necessary, to be an education major. Tutors work one-on-one with students using a very specific program with complete materials for approximately 20 minutes per child. Full training is provided. No tutoring experience is necessary. Patience and dependability are important. Tutors may not be enrolled in English remediation courses. Students must bring referral to room 303 in the Landon Student Union ASAP in order to complete application, select orientation time and training schedule.
America Reads Coordinator The coordinator supports the administration of the America Reads program, including but not limited to, maintaining contact with tutors and school sites, tracking bi-weekly timesheets, conversion of hours to Barry format, and preparation of forms and handbooks. Additional duties: answering phone, greeting visitors, referring volunteers, and promoting and staffing special events. Flexible work schedule. Responsible, dependable, team player, good people skills, computer literate and attention to detail. Be polite and attentive to all callers and visitors, students, staff and faculty. Sign in with staff member when checking in and departing from shifts. Notify the office of anticipated absences prior to your shift. Maintain professional behavior while on shift. Clerical/Program Assistant Assist with daily departmental operations, promotion, special events and volunteer placement and activities in the glass office in the new student union. Work will include a variety of activities including referring students for volunteer placement, the planning, set up, coordination and promotion or special events. Duties may include answering phones, photocopying, assembling packages, running errands, making nametags, processing correspondence as well as the promotion of programs through development of flyers, posters, banners, etc. Candidates should be willing to learn, dependable, responsible, computer literate, friendly, courteous, enthusiastic. Creativity, marketing, or volunteer experience a plus, but not essential. Prefer candidates with interest in community/ civic engagement.
