Barry

Founded in 1940, the University is sponsored by
the Adrian Dominican Order of Sisters from Adrian, Michigan. "U.S.
News and World Report 2006 Best Colleges Edition" ranked Barry
in the second tier of southern master's colleges and universities.
Barry is accredited by the Commission on Colleges

to award bachelor's, master's, specialist, and doctoral degrees.
In 2005, our total enrollment was 9324 (full-time and part-time undergraduate, graduate, adult and continuing education, and professional). Of our total enrollment, 84.2% are Florida residents, 11.40% are from out-of-state, and 4.4 % are international. For total enrollment, 30.8% are male, 69.2% are female.
Barry enrolled 4583 full-time undergraduates (primarily in our traditional programs). Our part-time undergraduate population totaled 1333 (primarily in our accelerated bachelor's programs designed for working adults). Our full-time graduate students totaled 1764; our part-time graduate students totaled 1644.
Our students were drawn from across the United States and around the world. "U.S. News and World Report Best Colleges Edition" ranked Barry #1 in diversity in southern master's colleges and universities for several years in a row.

CAMPUS LIFE

ATHLETICS
Barry's
twelve NCAA Division II teams (Sunshine State Conference) include
men's baseball, basketball, golf, soccer, and tennis, and women's
basketball, rowing, golf, soccer, softball, tennis, and volleyball.
Barry has won six national championships.
Barry has also gained acclaim for its emphasis
on academics. More than 63% of Barry's student-athletes maintain grade point
averages of 3.0 or higher.
Barry's Health and Sports Center houses a 1,500-seat
gymnasium, modern weight-training facility, state-of-the-art rehabilitation
and athletic training facility, a human performance laboratory,
and a biomechanics lab. Outdoor facilities include soccer and baseball
fields and tennis, racquetball, and basketball courts.
FACILITIES
We are certain you will find Barry has the facilities
you need to enhance and support your studies. The Monsignor William
Barry Library houses over 950,000 items of print and nonprint materials. The library also participates in numerous local and national organizations, including the Southeast Florida Library Information Network (SEFLIN).
The Division of Information Technology's main
computer lab is available to all students and faculty and provides
access to various application packages, various operating systems,
electronic mail, and the Internet. The lab is equipped with computers, terminals, scanners and laser and color
printers. The lab is open weekdays, evenings, and weekends to accommodate
students' schedules.
The Science Building houses classroom labs, research
labs and lecture rooms. A wide range of general and specialized
equipment in the biomedical sciences is available.
The Health and Sports Center has a fully-equipped
Human Performance Laboratory, a state-of-the-art Athletic Training
Room, and a biomechanics lab. In addition, there is a complete weight
training facility and an outdoor sports and recreation center.
The David Brinkley Television Studio has the latest
state-of-the art equipment, enabling you to obtain the experience you will need to enter the growing communications job market.

LOCATION
Barry University's 122-acre main campus is located
in the village of Miami Shores, 7 miles north of downtown Miami
and 14 miles south of Fort Lauderdale. We are an easy commute from
Broward or Dade Counties, just off I-95, exit 13 (campus map).
