Barry Abroad! Travel in 2009

In 2009, the Barry University Alumni Association will be presenting a journey to Ecuador as part of the new Barry Abroad Program. Together, Barry Alumni will embark on a 9-day expedition departing on March 14th. The organizing travel company, Earth Lion Expeditions, has dedicated itself to producing an itinerary that reflects a lifetime commitment to Barry University's distinctive values and traditions applied to the field of travel
Travelers on the first Barry Abroad cruise in 2008 had this to say about their experience, "The trip was truly a classy experience. Friends we made on our vacation is something we will always remember and keep in touch with. It was a time to get to know each other and share our adventures."

Starting from the city of Guayaquil, our expedition leads us on a journey along the Ruta Del Sol. It is a enchanting place with a mix of both tropical languor and the bustle of modest fishing and farming lifestyles. Join us on a hike from the Ayampe River's edge, bordered by tropical flowering plants of every color, into the splendid canopied rainforest. Catch sight of colorful birds as they prey and dart about overhead. Come bury your toes in the white powdery sand of the beautiful Los Frailes Beach, and maybe take a dip in the bluest of oceans. We will spend three nights in the Alandaluz eco-lodge where we will taste the local cuisine prepared in hollowed out bamboo or pumpkins. The gentle ebbing of the ocean a few yards away will lull you to sleep as you settle down for the night in one of the very innovative and unique colorful little cabins.

Come and explore the Isla de la Plata on a quest to see the frigate birds, the waved albatrosses and blue-footed boobies.

So join us on a once in a lifetime experience that you can share with other like minds as we travel through the Ecuadorian countryside, towns and villages while enjoying a unique blend of culture, flora and fauna, recreation, agriculture, food, history and people.

About the Travel Program

Barry Alumni Travel was created to provide travel opportunities for our alumni and the entire Barry family. The goal is to reinforce the University's traditions and values and education consistent with the Barry mission.

We hope to be able to both rekindle and uphold your unique relationship with the Barry. We have developed an inclusive program for extended members of the Barry family to provide a similarly strong connection to the school.

Our well-rounded and affordable tour packages offers alumni and friends the opportunity to travel together on both intellectual, as well as athletic and religious tours. Our trips provide enriching, unique and quality travel opportunities with the educational components offered by some of the premier travel agencies and companies in the world.
