Distinguished Alumni Award Recipients

Erbi Blanco-True is the senior vice president and director of community development for Great Florida Bank in downtown Miami. She manages the bank’s community outreach programs, which include lending, investments, and services related to affordable housing, neighborhood revitalization, and community development. Through her leadership, Great Florida Bank has become well known for community development and corporate social responsibility.

Ms. Blanco-True’s career includes more than 20 years of management experience in banking, in the areas of investments, marketing, lending, community relations, and business development. She is involved in several nonprofit and charitable organizations including the executive committee of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce, where she oversees seven committees as chair of the Community Growth Group. She is also a member of the executive committee and is the Women’s Leadership Council chair for Switchboard of Miami. Ms. Blanco-True is on the President’s Council for Florida International University; a board member of the South Florida Community Development Coalition and Step Up for Students; a member of the Campaign Cabinet for United Way of Miami-Dade; and chair of Miami-Dade County’s Affordable Housing Advisory Board.

She has won numerous awards for her community outreach efforts, including the 2012 Coral Gables Chamber Businesswoman of the Year Award, the 2012 South Florida Community Development Coalition’s Excellence in Community Development Award, the 2011 Hispanic Philanthropist Award, the 2011 Greater Miami Chamber Salute to Miami’s Leaders Award, and the South Florida Hispanic Chamber’s Women of Leadership Award.

Ms. Blanco-True holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Florida International University and a Bachelor of Professional Studies degree from Barry University. She lives in Coral Gables with her husband Alex, who is a captain for American Airlines, and her son, Kevin, who recently graduated from Florida State University.
