Thursday, March 21, 2013 – The Alumni Association’s largest networking event of the year, “Networking with the Pros,” returned this year to host both current Barry students and alumni – connecting them with one another in order to share opportunities and exchange ideas. Most importantly, this special occasion gave our students the chance to learn from successful graduates who were once in their same position.
More than 70 attendees took part in the evening’s program, which began with a presentation appropriately named “Developing Your Network” given by Northwestern Mutual’s Regional Managing Director, Richard Steiner. Once the presentation had concluded, it was time to put the newly acquired skills and techniques to the test, and the room full of alumni, representing an array of professional industries, interacted with as many of the students and their professional colleagues as possible.
“Networking with the Pros” was developed in collaboration with the Department of Career Services to be the final event of “Career Fair Week.” This week was created to showcase employers and job opportunities for Barry students. Thursday evening’s reception was the perfect end to the week, as it allowed Barry alumni and students to interact, share their expertise and learn the true value of an active alumni association. By utilizing the wisdom of the “pros,” students have the advantage of honing their networking abilities with someone they already have a connection with.
The Department of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving would like to thank the Department of Career Services, the Barry University Young Alumni Association, and Barry’s Student Alumni Association for their support and assistance with this event.
