Admission
Requirements
Students are generally admitted
at the beginning of the Fall semester. All credentials should be
received in the Office of Admissions by April 15 of the previous
academic year.
In order to be considered for admission to the
University, a first-time graduate student must:
- have a bachelor's degree or equivalent
from an accredited college or university with a GPA of 3.0 or
greater on a scale of 4.0 (especially in the last two years of
study).
- take and achieve a combined score of
1000 or higher in the verbal and quantitative tests in the Graduate
Record Examination (GRE – link will take you off the Barry
site and open a new browser window).
- have a background in the sciences, including
upper-level courses in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics.
- complete and submit the online application .
- provide a minimum of three letters
of recommendation from faculty in the major department of the
applicant's undergraduate studies. Acceptable alternatives include:
- an assessment form from the department
head on behalf of the department in which the applicant has
studied.
- letters from supervisors where the
applicant has recently been employed in a scientific field.
- display the mental, psychological, and
moral character that will enable them to complete the educational
program.
International Students
You must submit a TOEFL examination score if your university/college degree is from an institution in which English is not the language of instruction.

Interview
A personal interview is required. The interview
will be arranged only by invitation of the Admissions Committee
and after review of the applicants documentation.
