Recent accounts of sexual assault at American universities have prompted a national conversation about rape prevention and punishment on campus. According to the National Sexual Violence Resource Center, one in five women and one in 16 men are sexually assaulted while in college.

University administrations have responded to the call to make campuses safer through prevention programs, such as the “Yes Means Yes” campaign, and by meting out harsher punishments to perpetrators.

Does “no” always mean “no”? Should prevention programs focus on potential victims or on potential perpetrators? To what extent should higher education institutions be accountable for sexual assaults that occur on campus? Do perpetrators face appropriate consequences?

Join community experts, students, alumni, faculty, and staff to explore collaborative approaches to this timely issue.

This event is part of the Deliberative Dialogue Series, forums for working toward a common understanding of social issues, identifying practical solutions, and promoting workable public policy.
