Math and Computer Science Department introduces new Computer Simulation Lab

The Math and Computer Science Department is pleased to announce the inaugural semester of its new Computer Simulation Lab. This multi-purpose, state-of-the-art lab allows students to implement applied projects in Computer Security, Operating Systems, Multimedia and Network technology using server based Virtual Machine (VM) Technology. Additionally, the lab configuration will allow our students to explore new technologies, such as 3D Printing, Biometrics and Virtual Reality Systems.

One of the main features of the lab is the Computer Security section that consists of a completely isolated VM based Cisco network. This network allows computer security students to perform safe, hands-on exercises in security exploits and mitigation, a valuable experiential-leaning tool that will give our students the type of active experience rarely afforded outside of the industry.

Another very exciting new technology, which our students will be exploring, is 3D printing. This technology allows users to design their own real world objects and physically produce them. It is already revolutionizing manufacturing and will become a common consumer product in the years to come. Becoming first adapters and designers of this technology gives our students a cutting-edge skill that will be of great benefit to them.
