Barry students participate in STEAM Expo

A group of Barry University students from the Departments of Fine Arts and Biology recently led an interactive exhibit on the structure and function of brain cells at the annual Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math (STEAM) Expo at Miami Dade College.

The STEAM EXPO is home to the South Florida Regional Science and Engineering Fair and the SECME Olympiad and Festival, events that are attended by elementary, middle, and high school students throughout Miami-Dade County. The expo featured science fair showcases and interactive exhibits.

In their "Build-a-Neuron" exhibit — part of the Miami Brain Fair showcase — Barry students found a creative way to teach children and their families about the brain by showing them how to make Play-Doh and bead keychain models of brain cells.

Students taking part in the STEAM Expo included: Angela Duff; Marissa Jones; Verronika Laguerre; Shania Rodriguez; Roxanne Rosales-Urena; Keithania Thomas; and Jennyvette Trinidad.
