MIAMI, Fla. -The Family CARE Center at Barry University's Adrian Dominican School of Education has been awarded $21,123.68 by Success University, a Program of the Miami Beach Service Partnership which impacts youth and families in accordance with The Children’s Trust and City of Miami Beach.
Barry's Family CARE Center partners with the City of Miami Beach to offer trained counseling graduate students to serve as care coordinators and mental health practitioners to students and families. Students from Barry's School of Education also serve as academic support tutors, working with students to increase proficiency. The Barry Students receive tuition stipends for their work within the Success University Program.
The Success University Program offers an integrated Care Coordination-based program to reduce violence and truancy and prepare children and families for personal and academic success. The primary goal of the program is to address the risk factors related to absenteeism, maltreatment, violence, and disruptive behavior for elementary, middle and high school students, while providing support for families that are experiencing the negative influences of community stress factors.
Success University offers a variety of programming and youth and families are provided with strength-based and evidence-based best practice program services that include care coordination assessment, mental health assessment, counseling sessions, academic support sessions, and suspension diversion services.
