Saint Leo Head Coach - Kerri Reaves

"I'm very proud of the way my team played from the beginning to the end. We got behind in the first half, but were able to battle back. I could not be prouder of the players and the effort and attitude for the final 33 minutes of the ball game. We had big play from our younger kids and lots of effort from our senior and just really proud of the way they play.

"We were very confident coming into the game because we have been playing very well over the last few games and our approach was to get the ball and run the floor as much as possible. Gordon is such a tremendous player and presence in the post so we wanted to limit her touches and I think for the most part we did a pretty good job of that in the second half of the game."

" I told the girls during the timeout (14:06) for the next four minutes and six seconds we are going to play with every ounce of energy and effort we have in our bodies and we were going to press, run and force turnovers. In the next four minutes we were able to cut the lead to 8 or 9 after being down 19. They did what they were supposed to do."

Saint Leo - Rosetta Little - Senior

About playing her last collegiate game:
"I'm going to miss my teammates, going to practices, discussing game plans and basketball. I'm just going to miss it all. This is a great team and they have great hearts and I'm going to miss that because you don't see that everywhere."

Saint Leo - Amanda Holloway - Freshman

About being down by just one point late in the game:
"In my head it was a lot of rushing, but I was able to regain my composure late. We just came up a bit short."

Eckerd Head Coach Brian Shultes

"This is a big momentum boost for us. Everyone is looking at the opening round as a negative, but I think it's an opportunity for us to gather some momentum and head into the tournament. Obviously we didn't come here to win just one game, we are trying to win the whole thing. But, I think its nice to have a game under out belt here on this court and getting the win was important."

"We had beaten them twice earlier this year, but that doesn't really mean anything when you get to this level. We knew coming into the game we were going to have to play good defense. I thought the two biggest factors in the game were that we had to play sound defensively and rebound the basketball. I'm a little disappointed with our second-half defensive effort, but we did a good job on the boards. They are a good basketball team playing everyone tough all year and I know their record doesn't indicate that, but they have been in every game and they are very competitive."

"I think that when you get to this time of the season everybody is playing hard and it’s a survivor event and if you don't survive you go home. Everybody is going to be up on their game. It's going to be more physical and more intense and that's why I thought this game was so important in terms of developing some momentum. Getting use to the officials, how it's going to be called and things of that nature. Being in this arena and getting used to the conference tournament atmosphere. It helped prepare us for tomorrow's game."

Eckerd - Tameron Armbrister - Freshman

About playing close to her home across town in Plantation:
"I have my family in the stands and it helps when they are watching. It certainly gives me a boost."

On playing in her first conference tournament:
"It's definitely exciting because it's something new. I'm excited playing at the college level because I never thought I would be playing at this level. It's awesome.

Eckerd - Qunisha Rush - Senior

Her thoughts on Saint Leo's late game surge:

"I was thinking that Saint Leo was coming in to play hard against us and that they weren't going to go down without a fight. So, I knew we had to pull it together and pick up our defensive efforts. I knew in the end it was going to be a close game despite our big lead early and they were not going to go down without a fight. We just needed to pick up our intensity and concentrate on winning the SSC championship."
