University of Tampa
Tom Jessee—Head Coach
Thoughts on the game:
Typical match up of a 4/5 seed. We expected the game to go down to
the end. In the league right now there seems to be a great deal of
parity and balance. For the first time this year, and in the future,
you are going
to continue to see games like this. Rollins are the defending champions,
until someone beats them. Their veterans made some plays
down the stretch, and we went on an eight minute cold streak. They
hang their
hat on the same thing that we do, our defense, and when the offense
is not clicking, I’m proud that we came back a couple of times.
Off Season Preparation:
We are losing one senior. It’s about training, we feel good with the
core we have. It won’t (play) get any easier since the league is
so young.
Shawtavia Mathis—G, Sophomore
On Playing all 40 minutes:
Did it take away your legs in the end?
Not at all. I just rushed the shot.
Sheena Walton—C, Freshman
Being Freshman of the year:
To me, it's just words on paper. I mean, I appreciate it, that you
think I'm good enough to be freshman of the year, but basically
that just comes from a good coach, good guards and our senior.
She (Ozawa) helped me get to where I am now by bangin on me in
practice every day.

Summary:
We make a couple of shots at key times. With Tampa they play good defense
like us. We got to the free throw line and that helped us out.
Zone play.:
We try to identify the key shooters and get on them through out the
game. We had to know where they were at all times
We’ve had a lot of adversity this year and our freshman has had a chance
to play a lot of minutes.
Jennifer Musgrove—G, Freshman
Playing as a freshman:
I feel that I’ve grown this year and matured. So I don’t feel like
a freshman. Try to give it my all.
Larissa McDonough—F, Sophomore
We had to step up and play. We had to defend the post players and we knew
we had to shut them down. It was exciting to be here for the game.
