Florida Tech

Kris Olson—Head Coach
Thoughts on the game:
A hard fought battle. I think that Lynn played a very strong physical game. Our guys played well. A couple of shots fell the wrong way. I think we were just coming up a little bit short.

On bringing the whole team back next year:
I haven’t really thought about that. During the season you are so focused on this year. We have one kid sitting out that will help us in our rebounding. That’s the extent of the thought I’ve given to next year. I feel really good that we have everyone back. We have great student-athletes. They work hard in the classroom. I don’t really think about what we need to do next year.

On Desmond Greene:
Des is such a defensive player for us that he focuses on his defense. I don’t think they did anything different. He was just playing his game. We don’t really look at numbers we just play.

Ryan Maultsby—G/F, Junior
On driving to the basket in the second half:
If I see an opening I take it, but most of the time I do settle for the three. That part of my game is an option. They were concentrating so much on my three-pointers that it opened up the lane.

On next season:
We know what we can do when we work hard. We’ve got a lot of seniors coming back next year. We’ve got to leave it out on the floor one last time. I think our goal is win the SSC Championship.

Matt Hill—G, Sophomore

Just continue to attack the basket. When we attack the basket, it opens up our perimeter. We want to play more of our style. We wanted to play a little bit of our style to slow it up.

Lynn University

Scott McMillin—Head Coach

Game Summary:
In the first half we struggled a little bit. Florida tech did a great job. One of their biggest strength is the three-point shot. We didn’t do a good job of taking that strength away early in the basketball game. In the second half we adjusted better. They made two threes in the second as opposed to seven in the first. Our guys did a great job of that and we adjusted to them.
The teams that win in the post season, the things they do, they do a little bit better in the post season. They don’t do anything that they aren’t used to doing. We want to force tempo on both ends of the floor, and that’s just the way we play.

Tonight we were able to get on a run because we were able to get out in the open floor and create a little tempo.

On getting the first round out of the way:
We haven’t played since last Saturday. When you’re playing twice a week for the last 2.5 months, anytime you have a layoff it shows. I thought we weren’t out in the passing lanes like we usually are earlier in the game. We made them play faster offensively than they like to. That was the main reason for the big run in the second half and the difference in the game.

Justin Wingard—F, Senior

We had to play our game. That’s what we talked about at halftime. We wanted to get back in passing lanes and cause them to make some crazy passes. We made the second half a little easier for us to play.

On hearing his coach’s foot stomping on the sideline:
That’s when we know we need to make adjustments. Pick it up and get it corrected fast.
Florida Tech tried to come in and slow it down to make it a half court game.

James Taylor—G, Senior

The reason I feel like I’m coming off the bench is that I can be a spark. I want to come in and do things that bring some energy and the force that the team needs to pick things up. I want to be the one to take the team to the next level when I’m in the game.

Basketball is an emotional game. You get caught up in it. I got a little frustrated with myself. I give Florida Tech credit. It wasn’t a gesture to downgrade their defense.
