Brian Kortz joins the university’s SID staff as an assistant sports information director. As the assistant sports information director, Kortz will assist with all writing, designing, and editing of all athletic publications, and serve as the main contact for men’s and women’s golf, volleyball, men’s basketball and baseball.

Kortz earned a B.A. in English-Communications from Adams State College in 2006.

Prior to Barry University, Kortz spent three years working in newspaper covering a variety of sporting events, from the World Series to high school playoff games. During his time working in newspapers, Kortz was recognized several times for his sports writing, including a top sports column award in 2006.

Additionally, he has extenisive experience in radio, calling play-by-play and color on many broadcasts as well as hosting his own news and call-in shows.

Although from Colorado, Kortz came to Florida two years ago to cover minor league baseball in Jupiter at Roger Dean Stadium.
