Jeff LaLiberte joins the university’s SID staff as the Assistant Sports Information Director. As the Assistant SID, LaLiberte will serve as the primary contact for volleyball, men's basketball, baseball, and men's and women's golf.
Prior to accepting a fulltime position at Barry, LaLiberte served as the graduate assistant in sports information at Barry from May 2008 - June 2009. As
the GA in sports information, LaLiberte assisted with the writing, designing,
and editing of all athletic publications, and other special projects. In addition, LaLiberte served as the primary contact for volleyball, rowing, and men's and women's tennis.
LaLiberte earned a B.S. in English, with a minor in telecommunications
from Ball State University in 2004. While at Ball State, LaLiberte
was a member of Lambda Iota Tau (Literature Honorary Society) and played
club volleyball for the school for two years. LaLiberte recently completed his M.S. in Sports Management at Barry University. In addition to his work as the sports information GA, LaLiberte co-founded the Sports Management Association and served as the group's first vice president.
Prior to Barry University, LaLiberte spent three years
teaching English at Booker High School in Sarasota, Florida. In addition to his teaching
duties, LaLiberte spent three years coaching volleyball for Booker, two
as the varsity coach. In two years as head coach, LaLiberte’s
players went on to play collegiately at Spelman College (Atlanta, GA), Alma College (Alma, MI), Methodist
University (Fayetteville, NC), Virginia Intermont (Briston, VA) and Gulf Coast Community College in Panama
City, FL.
While in Sarasota, LaLiberte spent three years as the
co-director of Whitesands Volleyball Club. While at Whitesands VBC, LaLiberte was in charge
of all public relations and web site design in addition to his duties as
the 16’s head coach.
