Catherine Duggan
Women's Golf
BA, English and French, 1971

Catherine Duggan attended Barry from 1967-71. Most of her senior year was spent in Europe, as she went to southern France to complete course work related to her major in French. Even before graduating, she participated in several LPGA Golf Tournaments in 1969. She received her LPGA card by performance, and became an active Touring Professional in 1972. She finished in the Top 30 her first year as a pro golfer. She continued to compete on the LPGA Tour for 12 years. When the tour added its first Board of Directors, she was one of two players chosen to participate as members of the board. She became television's first female commentator for women's golf in 1974, and continued to work on ABC and NBC broadcasts until 1978. Duggan also broadcast golf events in French on Canada's CBC. She retired from the LPGA Tour in 1984. She is currently the co-owner of a medical equipment company. Duggan continues to play golf, competing in selected tournaments each year.
