Ronald C. Johnson (Meritorious Service)
Men's Basketball
BS, Sport Management, 1989

Ronald Johnson played on Barry's first men's basketball team in 1984-85, and also played from 1986-87 through 1988-89. He scored a school-record 1,723 points during his career. Johnson played for three different coaches, but continued to provide outstanding performances. He saw action in 100 games, and, along with his great scoring total, set the Barry career record with 196 steals. He earned 221 assists (3rd when he finished)) and blocked 106 shots (2nd when he finished). He was named Barry Male Co-Athlete-of-the-Year for 1987-88. His jersey (#12) was retired by Barry on November 17, 1989.

Johnson was Barry's first 1,000-point scorer and was team captain his last three years. Johnson received the team's Player-of-the-Year award twice and was named Defensive Player-of-the-Year once. Johnson became an assistant coach with the Buccaneers in 1989-90. He had the distinction of being featured on the Miami NBC-TV affiliate in a January, 1994 segment called "Making a Difference."
