Monica Martinez had an outstanding four-year career as a member of the Barry University softball team, finishing as the all-time leader in career hits (206), runs (160), and stolen bases (139). Martinez was selected All-American in 1993 and All-South Region in 1991 and 1993. A player with tremendous speed, Martinez holds the school record for steals, and is third all-time on the NCAA Division II career list with 139.

Martinez also finished in the All-Time Top 10 in seven other offensive categories at Barry, including total bases (2nd), game-winning hits (4th), RBI's (5th), home runs (7th), career batting average (8th), triples (9th), and walks (10th).
