Brooks Petty

Brooks Petty was Barry University's first male
All-American. He was named All-American in 1988 after qualifying
for the NCAA Division II National Meet. He won the 1988 Sunshine
State Conference individual title, while helping the team win the
SSC team championship -- Barry's first Conference title in any sport.
He placed second at the 1988 NCAA South Regional Meet and advanced
to the NCAA National Meet. Petty won the Gary Mills' Invitational
three times (1985-87), and won the Barry University Invitational,
Florida Southern Invitational, FIU Invitational, and Tampa Invitational
once each. He was chosen Barry's team MVP all four years, and was
named Barry Male Athlete-of-the-Year for 1988-89. He is now a Staff
Sergeant in the U.S. Army. Petty is an airborne paratrooper, and
has served throughout the world, including Germany, Saudi Arabia,
and South Korea. He continues to run each day, and recently helped
the 82nd Airborne Division claim third place at the Army Ten Miler
in Washington, D.C. with a personal-best time. |
