Traci Sheilds Simpson
Women's Soccer B.A., Communication, 1987
Traci Shields Simpson was a key player on the
Barry women's soccer team from 1984-1987. She was a strong defender
for the Buccaneers. She started all but one game her last three
seasons. She played in all 14 games during Barry's first season
of women's soccer in 1984, and helped pave the way for future successful
teams. Simpson played on the Bucs' NCAA Division I National Tournament
team in 1987, when Barry went 13-3-1. She also helped the Bucs earn
an impressive 12-2-2 mark in 1985.
Shields was an Academic All-American in 1986 --
Barry's first athlete to be honored at the national level for academic
achievement. On the field, her efforts earned her a spot on the
ISAA Senior Recognition Team for 1987. It was during the 1987 season
that Shields helped the Bucs defeat Virginia, Villanova, and Boston
College, while earning a tie against national power Connecticut. |
