Kyllene Carter was chosen the Honda-Broderick
Award winner for NCAA Division II women's soccer in 1990. She played
on Barry's first four NCAA Tournament teams and was named NCAA Division
II National Player-of-the-Year in 1990. She helped Barry win its
first ever National Championship in 1989, earning NCAA Tournament
Offensive MVP honors. She was named All-American in 1989 and 1990,
and was chosen for the ISAA Senior Recognition Team in 1990. She
was named All-America Team MVP as selected by Soccer America her
last two seasons at Barry.
On the field, Carter was a defender, but still
scored 8 goals -- three were game-winners -- and added 9 assists
during her career. Her most productive season was 1989, when she
tallied 5 goals and 5 assists, while leading Barry to an undefeated
17-0-1 record. Carter started all 68 games at Barry, helping the
Buccaneers earn a combined 54-10-4 record. Her athletic abilities
earned her spots at the U.S. Olympic Festival in 1986 -- while still
in high school -- and again in 1990. |
