Kertria Pamela Lofton

Kertria Lofton put Barry women's basketball on
the national map with her incredible play as a point guard in 1990-91,
when the Buccaneers won the Sunshine State Conference regular season
and post-season tournament titles. Barry was 26-4 and a perfect
12-0 in SSC play in 1991. Lofton was voted AWSF All-American in
1989-90 and 1990-91. She also was the SSC's Player-of-the-Year,
NCAA All-West All-Tournament, and All-SSC All-Tournament in 1991.
Lofton was voted Barry's Athlete-of-the-Year in 1990-91. She ranks
in the top five in ten Barry career categories despite playing only
two seasons. She is the all-time leader in three-point field goal
percentage at .341. The native of Fort Lauderdale, Florida holds
single season records for assists (279) and steals (153). Currently
the assistant women's basketball coach at Division I Florida International
University, Lofton was an assistant for three years at Lynn University,
where she is completing a master's degree. Still a competitive player,
Lofton was an alternate for the WNBA World Champion Houston Comets
this past year. |
